Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Islamabad police chief, Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, said that Rs240 million was spent every year on Imran’s security. The information came out at a Senate Standing Committee on Interior meeting on Wednesday. PTI Senator Mohsin Aziz was in charge of the meeting.
IG Nasir was asked why Mr. Khan Security was taken away and why the licenses of the private security companies that had been hired to protect him were taken away.
IG Nasir told the committee that 266 people from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan police, Frontier Constabulary, and Rangers have been put in charge of Mr. Khan’s security, in addition to the two private security companies.
The committee told that the ministry of the interior had taken away their licenses, but they are still doing security work.
IGP Nasir said that Mr. Khan had five security guards, just like Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, and Yousuf Raza Gillani did before him.
Mr. Aziz said that the former prime minister is a “global leader” who has talked about Islamophobia many times
Mr. Aziz said that he worried about the decision and that security agencies and the police had confirmed the threats. In this case, he said, the orders to take away Mr. Khan’s security were “illegal and inappropriate.”
“The West doesn’t like what Imran Khan is doing,” Mr. Aziz said.
Senator Dr. Shehzad Waseem, who is also a member of PTI, said it was worrying that Mr. Khan’s security had been taken away.
