Web Desk (LTN NEWS): The federal government asked the Supreme Court to start contempt of court proceedings against PTI Chairman Imran Khan because his party wants to hold a long march in Islamabad. The Supreme Court agreed to do this on Tuesday.
On Oct 20, the contempt case against the PTI chair will be heard by a five-member larger apex court bench. Chief Justice Umar Ata Banidal will lead the bench. The bench will include Justices Ijaz ul Ahsan, Munib Akhtar, Yahya Afridi, and Sayyed Mazhar Ali Akbar Naqvi.
Imran Khan, the leader of the PTI, has told the government that he has given them some time to decide when the general elections will be held. If they don’t, he will move toward Islamabad, and he won’t wait until October.
But the federal government told Khan he shouldn’t march to the capital, even though the former prime minister had warned him often not to.
A top government official told the PTI chairman that even though he made history by winning six National Assembly seats at the same time in the Oct 16 by-elections, which he called a “referendum” on his popularity, that does not give him the right to march to the capital.

If the PTI holds another long march, they will come to Islamabad for the second time. The last March was on May 25, and when Khan got to Islamabad, he suddenly stopped the March.
The letter
The federal government sued the PTI chairman for contempt of court on Thursday over his call for a long march to Islamabad.
In its petition, the federal government told the highest court that the PTI leader was planning to march toward Islamabad, which was against a court order.
The plea says, “Imran Khan is saying he is going to attack Islamabad.” It asked the Supreme Court to tell the head of the PTI to make sure that its orders about protests and sit-ins are carried out.
The Interior Ministry, which is part of the federal government, has made the request.
Long March wouldn’t be put off past October: Imran Khan
Khan told reporters at a press conference on Monday that his party’s anti-government “Azadi March” wouldn’t be postponed past October because they had finished planning.
The head of the PTI said, “My march will happen in October if the government doesn’t say when the next general election will be.”
The head of the PTI told the government that many people would join the anti-government March because he had called on the whole country.
Khan said he was still giving the government time to decide. “I’m giving them a little more time before we start our long march protest,” he said.
“Rana Sanaullah won’t even know what hit him; that’s how prepared I am,” Khan told the top minister, who recently said the government was ten times more ready than on May 25.
He said it was impossible to talk to the people in charge. “Criminals can’t be talked into anything. You can talk about peace with Baloch or Sindhi nationalists, but not with people who have broken the law like them “Khan added.
The government would do 10 times what it did on May 25: Rana Sanaullah
Sanaullah had said that if the PTI chairman called for another long march, the government would do 10 times what it did on May 25.
In Faisalabad, the minister also tried to make peace with the PTI by telling the media that the government was ready to talk with Khan under certain conditions but that there would be no unconditional talks.
Sana also said it was wrong that anyone could come to Islamabad and stay there whenever they wanted.
“If Imran Khan wants to have a long march, he needs to ask for permission. Section 144 says that no one can walk around with guns, but I found out that the president of the Faisalabad District Bar was walking around with armed people in NA-108,” he said.
