Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Thursday that PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s time as prime minister was a “dark chapter” for the media in Pakistan. He also said that media organizations and journalists should remember the anti-media track record of the PTI regime before attending his media seminar.

In a statement, she said that Imran Khan, whom she called the “economic murderer” of the media, should be ashamed of himself for holding the media seminar.

Imran Khan got into fights with the media while he was Prime Minister.

She said that Imran Khan was a liar, a crook, a foreign agent, an enemy of the media, and a hypocrite. She also said that the media had to decide if they wanted to go to a seminar given by someone who had used the National Accountability Bureau to limit media freedom.

“The media must decide whether or not to attend the media seminar of the founder of the Pakistan Media Regulatory Authority, which was set up by the previous government to control the media.

She told Imran to stop the fake media seminar because during his four years in power, the media’s voice was silenced and Mir Shakeel-ur-Rehman was arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to hurt the national media.

“PFUJ, CPNE, and PBA will have to decide if they want to go to the “media weakening seminar.” The media will have to decide if they want to go to the media seminar on the people who stifled journalism, fired journalists, and put restrictions on the media that had never been seen before.

The minister said that the media will have to decide if they want to go to the seminar on the person who international organizations have called a “media predator.”

The media will have to decide whether to believe the rumors about the seminar taking away their freedom and jobs.

Maryam Aurangzeb said that Imran Khan’s dislike of the media was shown by the reports from CPNE, International Media Watch, and Reporters without Borders (RSF) for 2020 and 2021.

She said that International Media Watch had called Imran Khan a fascist and that in the four years that he had been in power, journalists’ ribs had been broken, they had been kidnapped, the media’s freedom had been crushed, and the parliament had been locked.

She said that Imran Khan, who ran the media through the NAB, also put people who worked in the media out of work.

She said that the media has to decide if they want to go to the seminar of the person who took the pens away from the journalists and told the anchors to get off the screen.
