Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Imran Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), will take part in an international telethon today to raise money for the victims of the massive floods that have killed almost 1,000 people and left more than 30 million people in Pakistan without a home.

In a video message on Sunday, the former prime minister said that many people in Pakistan were hurt by the floods that hit the whole country.

“Today at 9:30 pm, I will hold a telethon to raise money for the flood victims from people in Pakistan and Pakistanis living abroad. He said, I want every Pakistani to give to the fund and give as much as they can. Imran Khan said that a committee led by Dr. Sania Nishtar, who is a leader of the PTI, will handle all issues related to donations. He also said that people from all provinces will be on the committee. He said that the money will be used to help those who have been hurt by floods.”

On Saturday, the head of the PTI said that he would set up an international telethon for the flood victims.

“Our senior ldrshp met & we decided I would do international telethon to raise funds for flood affectees on Monday night. Imran Tigers will be activated to volunteer for relief work. A comm under Sania Nishtar wiĺl be set up to identify & coordinate funds allocation based on needs.” he said in a tweet.

A day before, he said he didn’t want to help raise money for the disaster victims. During a visit to Dera Ismail Khan, the former prime minister said that he would not raise money until he knew for sure how the money would be spent.

People also said that the former prime minister was “playing politics” with the floods, and Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal told people to stop being “so pessimistic.” “Imran Khan said today that there was a lot of damage because we didn’t build good infrastructure. That’s not true, and it shouldn’t happen,” the minister said on Saturday.

Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, the leader of the PPP and the country’s foreign minister, had also criticized the PTI leader for holding political meetings even though Pakistan was being hit by huge floods. It’s too bad that people are still playing politics when the rains have caused so much damage.
