Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Manufacturers and Buckingham Palace said on Tuesday that King Charles II image will be put on coins, banknotes, and stamps over time. The new monarch’s cypher will also be put on government buildings and red mail boxes.
As the country gets used to having a new leader for the first time in 70 years, the people who make its money and stamps said they would start the slow process of switching from using an image of the late Queen Elizabeth to an image of the new king.
The Royal Mint’s Chief Executive Officer, Anne Jessopp, said, “The first coins with the face of His Majesty King Charles III will go into circulation when banks and post offices ask for them.”
This means that both King Charles III and Queen Elizabeth II’s coins will be used in the UK for a long time.
The Royal Mint thinks there are about 27 billion coins with a picture of the late queen, who died this month. This will take some time to change.

In the same way, the Bank of England said that new banknotes with a picture of Charles should be in use by the middle of 2024, and that it would show pictures of the new bills by the end of the year.
The Royal Mail also said that the picture of the late queen that is currently used on “everyday” stamps would be changed to a picture of Charles. When the current stamps run out, those new ones will be put into use.
All money and stamps with the queen’s picture will still be accepted.
Buckingham Palace has also shown off the new cypher for Charles. This is the sovereign’s monogram, which is used on state documents, by government departments, and by the Royal Household to frank mail, as well as on pillar boxes.
The new monarch chose the cypher from a list of designs made by the College of Arms. It is made up of the letters “C” and “R,” which stand for Charles’s name and “Rex,” which is Latin for “king,” and a picture of the crown.
“Each organisation will decide on its own if it wants to replace cyphers, and the process will be slow,” the palace said.
