Web Desk (LTN NEWS): State Minister for Petroleum Musadik Malik raised questions on Tuesday about a trailer for a documentary that was being shared on social media. The trailer focuses on the culture of graft in Pakistan and shows how the Sharif family was involved in big financial crimes while in power.
The trailer looks like the beginning of a Netflix-made documentary about political corruption called “Behind Closed Doors.” Many people on social media, including many powerful leaders, have shared the video. Even PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry shared the video.
The teaser was shown on the YouTube channel of the company that made the documentary, Independent POV. The film’s website wants to challenge dogma and get people to think.
“Netflix has said that it didn’t make that movie. The question then is who made that movie. How did the money for the movie get there? “Malik told a group of reporters at a press conference.
That’s where PTI spends all of its secret, illegal money. All the campaigns against the martyrs, the institutions, and these videos are paid for with money from outside the country.
The state minister said that these short videos cost about Rs3m.
The minister said, “I dare PTI to say that they have not hired David Fenton’s firm [for lobbying and propaganda].”
Reports say that the PTI (USA) chapter has hired Fenton/Arlook, a PR and advocacy firm based in Washington, DC, to help the party’s goal of good relations with the US and the Pakistani diaspora in the US.
The lobbying firm’s main client is the USA branch of PTI. The company will be in charge of PTI USA’s public and media relations for six months and will be paid $25,000.
When asked about the gas tariff, Malik said that the LNG (liquefied natural gas) costs us $40/MMBTU, not $3-4/MMBTU. In January and February 2023, there will be an extra load of LNG.
He also said that LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) cylinders would be given to customers by Sui Northern Gas Pipelines this year.
“It’s hard for us to buy another load of LNG for the winter.”
The minister said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would soon make a public statement about getting enough energy to be self-sufficient.
