A new documentary on Sharif family to be aired on Netflix

Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Politicians and many people on social media say that a new documentary about Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family’s alleged corruption will soon be available on Netflix and Amazon Prime.

The director has not said anything like that.

On Monday, the trailer for a new documentary called Behind Closed Doors came out on social media.

It was posted on social media by politicians and lawmakers, who insisted that the documentary about Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Nawaz Sharif and his family’s alleged “corruption” would be shown on Netflix in the US.

The trailer was shared on social media, and so far, it has been seen by more than 258,000 people.

Imran Khan, the former prime minister, and several investigative journalists, like Tom Stocks and John-Allan Namu, are the people in the trailer.

Muhammad Basharat Raja, a provincial minister in Punjab who is also a member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), tweeted the trailer and wrote, “A proud moment for the House of Sharifs!

In the same tweet, he shared a picture with the words, “Netflix is going to release a documentary called Behind Closed Doors, which will also show the corruption scandals of the Sharif family.”

While another PTI provincial minister tweeted that the film about corruption would soon be available on Netflix and Amazon Prime.

Fact

The movie was made by an independent company called Independent POV. According to the company’s website, it makes “documentaries that look at secrets and power abuse.”

It has made five documentaries, some of which it has paid for.

Its latest project, Behind Closed Doors, is a “film about corruption in high places and those who help it,” according to its website. “Politically Exposed Persons” (PEPs) are people who have public jobs and are, therefore, more likely to be involved in bribery or corruption. “London is where they buy property, sue their critics, and live when they fall from grace,” the website says.

Michael Oswald and Murtaza Mehdi are both in charge of making and directing the movie. IMDb says that Oswald is a director, writer, and editor who lives in the UK. But Geo Fact Check couldn’t find any information about Murtaza Mehdi’s past projects.

Behind Closed Doors’ website doesn’t mention who distributes the documentary. There is also no mention of Netflix or other streaming services picking up the documentary.
