Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Government raises the prices of petroleum products for the two weeks of September. This occurs because of the changes in the exchange rate and the IMF deal.
“In the twice-monthly review of petroleum product prices, the government took into account the suggestion to raise some prices in line with changes in international oil prices and fluctuations in the exchange rate,” the ministry said, adding that the “petroleum levy has been kept at a minimum to help consumers.”
The new prices of petroleum products will be implemented for two weeks which is from September 1-15. The new price of petrol is Rs235.98, the price of kerosene is Rs201.54, the price of high-speed diesel is Rs247.43, and the price of light diesel oil is now Rs201.54.
Under the agreement with IMF, the government has to slowly raise the PDL on oil products until it reaches a maximum of Rs50 per liter. At the moment, all four types of fuel don’t have to pay GST, which is a tax that is usually 17%.
