Web Desk (LTN NEWS): PM Shehbaz Sharif left Samarkand on Friday on a “satisfactory note.” He had been in Uzbekistan for two days to attend a meeting of the Council of Heads of States for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

After his trip to Uzbekistan was over, PM tweeted about how it went. During his trip, he met with the leaders of the member states.

“It was good to say goodbye to Samarkand. People are now more aware than ever of how dangerous climate change can be. The SCO countries know that it has the power to turn back all of our material progress and put us decades behind. All the more reason to stand together,” tweeted PM Shehbaz after he returned from the high-level meeting.

PM Shehbaz says that we need to “build a wall” to stop climate change.

Earlier today, PM Shehbaz asked the members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) to “build a wall” against climate change. This comes as Pakistan deals with flood damage caused by torrential rains that have affected more than 30 million people and killed more than 1,500.

PM Shehbaz made the request today when he spoke to the SCO’s Council of Heads of State (CHS) about the environment, peace, and security in Afghanistan, and how countries can work together on their economies.

PM Shehbaz attended the close-format Council of Heads of States meeting at the Congress Centre. He was welcomed by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who is also a leader of one of the eight countries in the SCO.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi were also at the meeting.

Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif said that the country is paying the price for climate change because of the damage caused by the floods.

“Climate change is almost certainly to blame for the terrible floods in Pakistan. It is caused by climate change, cloud bursts, rains that have never happened before, and hill torrents. “When you look at Pakistan as a whole, it looks like a sea of water,” PM said.

He said that he had “never seen this kind of destruction” before and that the SCO should make good plans for the generations to come.

PM Shehbaz said that the disaster has hurt homes and washed away crops. He also said that people in areas that were hit by floods are facing diseases. He said that he hoped the country would get through this.

PM Shehbaz also thanked the members of the SCO for helping Pakistan when it was in trouble.
