Dera Ghazi Khan (LTN NEWS): Chief Minister Parvez Elahi went to Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur on Tuesday to see what was being done to help people there.
He gave each family of the people who died in the flood a check for Rs800,000 in memory of their loved ones. At the request of the local parliamentarians, he said that Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur were disaster zones.
He told everyone to help the flood victims and said a prayer for the souls of those who had died.
The CM said that the paths of hill torrents would be changed so that damage wouldn’t happen. He also went to the rescue operation center in the Shahpur area of Rajanpur and met with flood victims. He also went to see how the relief work was going.

He said that the Punjab government stood with the people who had been hurt and that helping them get better and back on their feet quickly was a top priority. He said that the government had set up medical camps where people could get vaccinated in case there was an outbreak.
Later, the CM also went to the Chhatani area of Taunsa Sharif, which had been hit by flooding, to comfort the people there.
Parvez Elahi told reporters that he would do everything he could to help the people who had to move. He also said that the NDMA, PDMA, and line departments would get to work right away on short-term and long-term plans.
The CM gave the order to build channels, which are expected to cost around Rs20 billion. He said that the flooding of the Shadan Lund food center would be looked into.
Parvez Elahi also flew over the areas of Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan that were hit by flooding. The irrigation secretary told him about what was being done to help.
As soon as the chief minister left, people from the flood-damaged village of Ahmadani blocked the Indus Highway to show that they didn’t like being ignored.
They stopped traffic and yelled things that were bad about the chief minister.
He also didn’t ask for an investigation into a break in the Kot Mahoi dyke, which is thought to be the main cause of the flood.
