Web Desk (LTN NEWS): According to a statement released by ISPR, COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa will visit flood-hit areas in KP and Punjab on Thursday as relief operations continue across the country. According to ISPR, the Pakistani military is also helping those in flood-affected areas.
Rescue operations and humanitarian aid
The Army airlifted 1,087 trapped individuals and delivered 72 tons of aid to flooded districts in 157 missions, according to the military press office.
ISPR also reported that more than 50,000 people had been evacuated from disaster zones and that more than 51,000 people had received medical care at various medical camps, with many receiving free medication for a period of three to five days.
Camps for donations
The Pakistani military has set up 221 distribution centers across the country to collect donations for flood victims. There are now 85 collecting locations in Punjab, 15 in K-P, 43 in Sindh, 41 in Balochistan, 30 in AJK, and 3 in Gilgit-Baltistan, all set up by the military.
Medicine and other supplies totaling 1,231 tons have been collected and are being sent to flood victims. The military’s public affairs office also reported that 25,000 precooked meals were being shipped to flood-stricken districts.
The military has recently reported that the Jaglot-Skardu Road and the Karakoram Highway (KKH), both of which were damaged by floods and landslides, will be repaired “on schedule” by the National Highway Authority and the Frontier Works Organization.
ISPR further reported that more engineering and medical detachments and supplies had been sent to Karachi to assist with relief efforts in Sindh.
Flood Control Hotline
A flood control hotline: 1125 for KP and 1135 for the rest of Pakistan has been set up by the Pakistani military, and citizens are being urged to call them in the event of an emergency.
