Web Desk (LTN NEWS): COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa says that the armed forces have moved away from politics and want to stay out of it.

COAS Bajwa said this important thing at a luncheon at the Pakistan Embassy in Washington, where he was giving a speech.

He went on to say that everyone in society should be focused on getting Pakistan’s economy back on track.

During a casual talk, the army chief said that other countries wouldn’t be able to reach their goals if their economies weren’t strong.

COAS met with US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin at the Pentagon Tuesday afternoon, not long after his lunch.

Both talked about problems in their own countries and in the area. Secretary Austin also gave the army chief a medal of honor. The army chief, who is here for a week, also met with US National Security Advisor (NSA) Jake Sullivan and Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman.

The Pakistan military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said in a statement, “During calls, issues of mutual interest, the security situation in the region, and bilateral cooperation in a number of fields were discussed.”

COAS Bajwa thanked US officials for their help and said again that “assistance from our global partners will be crucial” for helping flood victims in Pakistan.

“Both sides agreed that Pakistan and the US have a long history of working together and will keep getting better through trade, investment, and economic ties,” the statement said.

The army chief’s statement said that he was very sorry about the deaths and damage caused by the hurricane in Florida. He said that Pakistan completely understands the loss and pain of the families of the victims because Pakistan is going through the same things because of climate change.

“Both sides agreed on major international issues, like Afghanistan, and the need to work together to prevent humanitarian crises and make the area more peaceful and stable,” the statement said.
