Doesn’t matter who leads the army: Imran Khan

Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Imran Khan, the leader of the PTI and a former prime minister, said that the next chief of army staff (COAS) should be chosen based on how well they do their job.

The former prime minister told reporters in Lahore that he doesn’t care who the next army chief is.

But the army chief should be chosen based on how good he is. They [the government] want to bring a chief of their choice.

“How can a criminal be in charge of the army?” Khan said.

He said that letting a felon help choose the head of the army is a security threat.

“They’re afraid of how bad they’ve become. I don’t have any fear,” Khan said.

Khan said this about the missing cypher: “The cypher has not been stolen. The Foreign Office still has the master copy. They have now accepted that there was a cypher, which is good. “

The head of the PTI also said that if he is called in by the committee looking into the disappearance of the cypher, he will first ask who Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu told to be fired.

In response to a question, Khan said that October 16, the date set by the Election Commission of Pakistan for by-elections on eight National Assembly seats, is a long way off and that the by-elections might not happen.

He also criticized Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, asking how he could stop his party from marching to Islamabad.

“Sanaullah is just threatening us,” Khan said, adding that the government itself is a security threat.
