Imran Khan’s inappropriate comment about a female journalist

Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Imran Khan, the head of the PTI, made an offensive comment about a prominent female journalist. He said she asked to be trolled and harassed because she covers political rallies “in male-dominated spaces.”

During a meeting in the federal capital with the National Press Club and the Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ), he said this in response to a question about women journalists being harassed at PTI’s jalsas.

Khan said he would give his supporters special instructions about this. Still, he singled out journalist Gharida Farooqui and said, “If she goes into male-dominated spaces, she will be harassed,” implying that she is “asking for it.”

When asked why he said that journalists were paid (called “lifafa journalists”), Khan said that he had only used the term for senior journalist Saleem Safi, a known critic of the PTI.

Khan said he couldn’t stop social media trolls because no one controls them. He also said that he had only sued Najam Sethi and no other journalist and that the case against Sethi was still going on.

When asked if he could invite any journalist to his press conferences, Khan said, “I don’t know who stops some news outlets from covering my pressers.”
