Web Desk (LTN NEWS): A US senator said there had been no change in how the US treats Pakistan. He also explained what US Vice President Joe Biden meant when he talked about Pakistan’s nuclear capabilities, saying that Biden’s words were not meant to hurt the relationship between the two countries.
“I don’t know why President Biden said what he said about Pakistan, but I don’t think he meant for this to hurt relations between the US and Pakistan in any way.” At an event in Maryland, Democrat Senator Chris Van Hollen told the media.
To explain what the US President said, a US Senator said that Biden’s statement was made on the spot and that US policy toward Pakistan has not changed.
“The United States does trust Pakistan to keep its nuclear arsenal safe,” Chris Van Hollen said.
He said that the US State Department’s explanation also shows that President Biden didn’t say what he said on purpose.
The Senator said that the US wants its relationship with Pakistan to be stable. He also said that the flash flood and the coordinated response helped improve relations between the two countries.
He also said that the US is always in touch with Pakistani officials and looking for more ways to help the country with flood relief.

He also said that Imran Khan, the leader of the PTI, was wrong when he said that the US was behind a change of government in Pakistan. He said that the US does not make decisions about who should be in the government of Pakistan. He said it was up to the people of Pakistan to choose who should lead them.
“However, I will say that the former prime minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, is wrong,” he said, adding that the US had nothing to do with the country’s regime change.
Pakistan response
Before giving a detailed official response, the Pakistani government officials talked with each other. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari were very angry about Biden’s words.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) told US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome that President Biden’s comments about Pakistan’s nuclear programme were “misleading.”
The ministry said that acting Foreign Secretary Jauhar Saleem called the US ambassador to give the message. The US envoy was told that Pakistan was upset and worried about the uncalled-for comments.
The ministry said that the US president’s words are not based on reality or facts.
The secretary made it clear that Pakistan is a responsible nuclear state. The way it runs its nuclear programme and sticks to global standards and best practices is well known, even by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
“It was important to keep things going in a good direction between Pakistan and the US and for the two countries to work together closely,” the ministry said.
