Web Desk (LTN NEWS): The petitioner says the ex-PM shouldn’t be allowed to run because he hid information.

The Appellant Election Tribunal of the Peshawar High Court has questioned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s nomination papers for NA-22 Mardan (PHC).

Monday is when the case will be heard (today).

Ali Haider, who filed the petition, did so through Lawyer Naveed Akhtar. This brought the returning officer for NA-22 Mardan and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) into the case.

The petitioner said that former Prime Minister Imran Khan hasn’t turned in his tax returns or paid for things he bought from Toshakhana between 2018 and 2020, like a watch.

He said that the former prime minister and his wife bought more than 140 million rupees worth of gifts between 2018 and 2021, but they only paid 38.9 million rupees for them. He also said that the head of the PTI never told the election body about these things.

The petitioner said that not only did the former prime minister hide information about his alleged daughter, but he also hid what he and his wife owned.

He said that Imran did not put the land in Jhelum that was taken for the Al-Qadir University Project Trust on his tax forms either, even though he is still the chairman of the trust.

According to the petition, the PTI leader has been charged with illegal funding and other crimes since 2014. In one of these cases, the ECP said that Imran is not “honest and trustworthy.”

The petitioner asked that the former prime minister be disqualified from running for that seat.
