Web Desk (LTN NEWS): In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the Pakistan Army was shocked by “anti-military statements” made by PTI Chairman Imran Khan at his party’s political meeting in Faisalabad on Sunday.

In a statement, the military’s media wing stated that the institution is “aghast at Khan’s slanderous and uncalled-for accusations about the senior leadership of the Pakistan Army.”

“Regrettably, there has been an attempt to discredit and undermine the Pakistan Army’s senior leadership at a time when the institution is risking lives every day to keep the people of Pakistan safe and secure,” the statement said.

The ISPR also said that it is most unfortunate and disappointing that senior politicians are trying to stir up controversies over the appointment of the military’s chief of army staff.

It also said that the Constitution clearly spells out how the COAS is chosen.

“The army’s senior leadership has decades of impeccable meritorious service to prove its patriotic and professional credentials beyond any doubt,” ISPR said, adding that politicizing the institution’s senior leadership and scandalizing the COAS selection process is neither in the interest of the state of Pakistan nor of the institution.

The military’s media arm said, “Pakistan Army reaffirms its commitment to uphold the constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.”
