Army urges people to join in fighting floods

Web Desk (LTN NEWS); DG ISPR said in the NFRCC official meeting that Pakistan Army has set up flood relief and coordination centers in all the areas that have been hit by rain. Troops from the army, navy, and airforce are stationed there.

Across the country, he said, more than 136 helicopters have been sent out, and more than 150 medical and relief camps have been set up where victims are getting free food and medical care.

“We have also given out a lot of tents and food,” he said, adding that thousands of people who were stuck in different places had been saved.

General Iftikhar said that Pakistan Army has set up a fund to help flood victims, and he asked people to help their suffering brothers by giving money to the fund. He also said that every general officer in the army had given a month’s pay to the project.

DG ISPR also said that the army had decided to postpone its Defense Day ceremony at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi to show support for those who had been hurt by the floods.

He also said that the people who died in the Lasbela helicopter crash were “the reason we can breathe freely today.”
