Web Desk (LTN NEWS): On Wednesday, Pakistan strongly denounced the “highly provocative and sacrilegious remarks” made against the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by a BJP leader and urged the international community to immediately address the rising anti-Islamic sentiment in India.
Muslim organizations had called for his arrest for his remarks about the Prophet, and Indian police detained BJP leader T. Raja Singh, a lawmaker in the southern state of Telangana, on suspicion of “promoting enmity in the name of religion” on Tuesday (PBUH).
The Foreign Office condemned the comments and noted that it was the second time in the previous three months that a senior BJP leader had spoken disrespectfully of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
“Billions of Muslims around the world and the people of Pakistan have been deeply hurt by these highly derogatory remarks.”
The BJP’s token and ineffective disciplinary action against the official, the FO spokesperson noted, “cannot assuage the pain and anguish caused to the Muslims of India and around the world.”
Pakistan also denounced the lawmaker’s release, calling it “highly repugnant” to release the BJP leader just hours after his arrest.
According to the spokesperson, the recent incident once again brought attention to the “obsessively spiteful demeanor” of the current Indian regime toward Muslims and “the worrying trajectory” of Islamophobia in India.
The reality is that India is nothing more than an unrecognized “Hindu Rashtra,” where Muslims regularly face marginalization, dispossession, and religious intolerance as a result of majoritarian hegemony.
The FO also criticized the top BJP leadership for their “deafening silence” regarding the heinous incident, claiming that this clearly showed their approval and unwavering support for the radical Hindu zealots both inside and outside of the BJP.
The statement continued, “Pakistan demands the Indian government to take immediate and decisive action against the BJP members regularly involved in denigrating Islam and undermining the honor of the beloved Prophet (PBUH).”
