Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Arshad Nadeem won the first gold medal for Pakistan at the 2022 Islamic Solidarity Games on Friday. He won the javelin throw event. At the Islamic Solidarity Games, Arshad Nadeem takes home the gold medal.
The javelin was thrown at a record-setting speed of 88.55 meters in the air. Nadeem threw the javelin 79.40 meters on his first try. His next throws were 88.55 meters, 75.50 meters, 82.40 meters, and 83.33 meters.
Nadeem won a gold medal in the javelin throw at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, last week. He also won gold at the South Asian Games and the Imam Raza Cup, both of which were held in Iran.
The Olympian broke the CWG record with a 90.18m throw on his fifth and final try. He is the first Pakistani to hold the record.
At least 4,000 athletes from 56 Muslim countries are competing in 24 different games for a total of 355 medals.
Before Turkey, the Games had been held in Saudi Arabia (2005), Iran (2010), Indonesia (2013), and Azerbaijan (2017). A fight between Iran and Saudi Arabia, on the other hand, meant that the Tehran event had to be canceled.
