Islamabad (LTN NEWS): Sibtain Khan, an MPA for the PTI, was chosen as the Punjab Assembly’s new speaker on Friday.
He was put out by the PML-Q and PTI as a joint candidate to take on Malik Saif ul Malook Khokhar of the PML-N.
Pervez Elahi’s election as Punjab’s chief minister resulted in the speaker’s position becoming vacant.

Sibtain won the speaker’s position with 185 votes, defeating Saif ul Malook Khokhar of the PML-N, who was the joint candidate of the opposition and received 175 votes.
A total of 364 votes were cast during the session, which was presided over by PTI MPA Waseem Khan Badozai, and four of them three from the Opposition and one from the PTI—were rejected.
The panel’s chairman, Badozai, gave the speaker the oath after the PTI MNA won the election.
Khan thanked the Assembly for giving him the responsibility of leading the House with dignity after assuming the speaker’s role.
“The house was mistreated, and the police visited it previously. He added, “I will work to stop similar occurrences from happening again,” and then he adjourned the meeting for another 30 minutes.
Sibtain had previously expressed his desire to win the election “effortlessly.”
The newly appointed assembly secretary Inayatullah Lak carefully reviewed and approved both candidates’ nomination papers prior to the elections.
Waseem Khan Badozai, an MPA for the PTI, presided over the meeting. The PML-Khalil N’s Tahir Sandhu attempted to raise a complaint before to the start of the voting process regarding the location of the polling booth, claiming that cameras were erected above it. His objection was heard, and the polling place was moved.
The Pakistan Democratic Movement and [one of it’s workers will win today, according to PML-N candidate Khokhar, who also asserted that the PTI will find out today “who is the thief and who is better” while speaking to the press outside the assembly shortly before the session started.
Today’s vote on the Thursday-introduced no-trust motion against Dost Muhammad Mazari, the deputy speaker of the Punjab Assembly, is also anticipated.
