Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Shahbaz Gill, a leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), asked an Islamabad court for bail on Monday. The court’s decision will be made public today at 11 am.
After both sides had their say, Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Zafar Iqbal put off making a decision.
The leader of the PTI is being charged with sedition for comments he made during a TV show earlier this month that caused a lot of trouble. On August 9, Banigala Chowk is where the police in Islamabad caught him.
In another case, where guns were found in his room at Parliament Lodges, he has already been given bail.
Gill was arrested in the sedition and arms recovery case and sent to jail on judicial remand after hearings went back and forth and his lawyer made repeated accusations against the Islamabad police.
On Monday, the police gave Gill’s lawyer the case file because the judge told them to.

During the first hearing, Gill’s lawyer said that the police didn’t show the Section 161 statement. “All statements except Gill’s are being shown by the police,” the lawyer said. At this point, the judge told the police to show the defense lawyer Gill’s first statement.
In his arguments, Gill’s lawyer said that the city magistrate, who brought the case, had accused the PTI leader of sedition after picking out different parts of his speech from the transcript.
“Gill never considered being a traitor. There must be some confusion about what Gill said, and he is willing to clear it up,” he said. “After the army plane crash, a wrong tweet was sent out, and it later went viral. Shahbaz Gill is not to blame for that,” the lawyer said, adding that the accused PTI leader had even asked to be punished for the wrong tweet.
Gill’s lawyer said that the purpose of the strategic media cell was to cause a rift between the PTI and the army, and that it was run by a mastermind he wouldn’t name. He said that the mastermind spread false information about Imran Khan and the PTI.
He asked, “How is it possible that Imran Khan or his party is against the Pakistan Army’s fallen soldiers?” Referring to the blasphemy case against Asia Bibi, the lawyer said that a case wasn’t valid if the accused person hadn’t made people hate the army, but the complainant said that they had.
He said that the PML-N was adamant that Gill had betrayed the army. “How can they figure out what Gill’s words mean to them?” he asked. “My client has stood by the army and still does,” he said.
