Solar Systems can Reduce Fuel Import Bill: PM Shahbaz Sharif

Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Wednesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif asked the relevant authorities for a report on power projects that have been put on hold over the past four years.

At a meeting to review ways to promote solar energy in the country, where the prime minister was in charge, he slammed PTI chairman Imran Khan for stopping power projects and criticizing the Pakistan Army and shuhada.

Soon after taking office in April, the PM asked for a look into why some power projects were put on hold. But there had been no news about putting together an investigation team.

At that time, he said that the lack of power in the country was because power projects had been put on hold.

According to the PM Office, the PM also asked for a detailed report on how much money was received through electricity bills as a fuel price adjustment.

He said that people would be given solar systems instead of the expensive fuel that was being brought in to make electricity.

The prime minister said that Imran Khan’s government’s policy on alternative energy, which was put in place in 2020, not only didn’t get the results that were needed but also didn’t bring in any investment in the field.

PM Shehbaz asked that solar systems be given first to Balochistan. He said that solarization would not only cut the cost of importing expensive fuel but would also help make electricity that is cheap and good for the environment.

At the meeting, people were told about solar projects that could be done instead of expensive power projects. It was said that the government would start around 14,000 megawatts of solar projects in the next few months. About 9,000MW of these would come from solar projects, which would be done first.

Under the plan, solar systems would not only be sold at lower prices but there would also be tax breaks for people who bought them.

The prime minister told the relevant authorities to make a full plan so that solar projects can be built quickly.

Later, in a tweet, PM Shehbaz said that the “derogatory campaign of Imran Khan against the Pakistan Army” would never be forgotten by the families of those who had died.

He also said that everyone in the country has heard what Imran Khan has said over the past four months.

He also said, “His (Imran’s) trolls on social media spread a lot of hate against the army. Will the families of those who died (Shuhada) forget? Niazi can make a fool of himself, but not the whole country.”

According to Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR), the country’s armed forces and the families of security personnel who died in the line of duty on August 5 expressed “deep anguish” over what a military spokesman called a “regretful media campaign” after an accident in which senior army officials died in a helicopter crash.
