Web Desk(LTN News): PML-Q When picking the next army chief, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has been told by President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain to simply obey the Constitution and pay no regard to anyone else.
The conversation took place during a meeting between the premier and Shujaat, which also included a viewpoint exchange on other important national topics like the current political climate and financial crises.
An insider account of the meeting claims that when the prime minister asked Chaudhry Shujaat about his health, the latter responded that he was fine but added that he would feel much better if the prime minister took action to lower the cost of necessities.
PM Shehbaz informed him that because efforts by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar had lowered the value of the US dollar, he was now concentrating on bringing down inflation.
The PML-Q president encouraged the prime minister to help the people affected by inflation while assuring him of his and a portion of his party’s support. “You have our support, Mr. Prime Minister. But make an attempt to lower the cost of gasoline and food products, he said.
The seasoned politician also advised PM Shehbaz to name the army commander in accordance with the constitution. He cautioned, “It is a sensitive matter; please do not heed anyone’s advice on the matter.”
The prime minister gave him his word that he would carry out his instructions.
According to sources, Chaudhry Salik would go to China next month with PM Shehbaz.
