Web Desk (LTN NEWS): The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Monday that three lieutenant generals were moved and given new jobs.
Corps Commander Peshawar Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed was made the commander of the Bahawalpur corps. He took over for Lt. Gen. Khalid Zia, who is now the military secretary at GHQ. The new commander of the Peshawar corps is Lt. Gen. Sardar Hassan Azhar Hayat, who was the military secretary.
Gen. Faiz Hameed’s move is a little strange since he had only been in charge of the Peshawar corps for a year. Previously, he was the director general of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), where he got into an unnecessary scandal when the prime minister at the time, Imran Khan, refused to move him out of ISI.
As the head of the ISI and the commander of the Peshawar corps, Gen. Hameed stayed involved in trying to make a deal with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan and dealing with things in Afghanistan.
With his new job, it looks like he has been taken away from all things related to Afghanistan and the TTP.
