Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Article 245 of the Constitution says that the federal government called on the Pakistan Army to help the civilian government.

Article 245 of the Constitution says that the federal government can ask the Pakistan Army to send troops to help the civil government in areas that have been hit by rain and floods. On Friday, the federal government did just that.

After the federal cabinet approved a summary through circulation, the federal government sent out a notice that Pakistan Army troops would be sent to areas and districts of Sindh, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Balochistan that had been hit hard by floods and heavy rains.

Earlier, on Friday, the Interior Ministry sent a summary to the Federal Cabinet, asking for permission to send Pak troops to areas of the country that were hit by floods. In the summary, it was said that Article 245 of the Constitution gave the federal government (the federal cabinet) the power to send troops of the armed forces to help with civil administration.

It also said that the prime minister had agreed to send the summary to the federal cabinet so that it could vote on whether or not to send Pakistani troops to flood-hit areas in four provinces early.

The Military Operations Directorate had already agreed verbally to send troops to areas of the country that had been hit by rain and flooding.

This was reported to the federal cabinet. The summary from the interior ministry also told the federal cabinet that the home departments of four provinces had asked the federal government to use Pakistan Army assets and troops to help civil power.
