Govt sets up JIT to look into leak audio of PM Shehbaz

Web Desk (LTN NEWS): A joint investigation team (JIT) has been set up by the government to look into the data that was stolen from the Prime Minister’s House.

The news came about after the contents of an audio call allegedly between PM Shehbaz Sharif and an unnamed person were shared on social media.

After this happened, a high-level investigation was started to find out how the data leak from the PM Shehbaz House happened. Each of the country’s intelligence agencies would have one member on the JIT.

The team will look into how the data was hacked, and they will have the power to look into the PM House staff.

Sources say that the team will look into whether or not devices were put in the PM Shehbaz House or whether or not phone calls were recorded. The team will also check to see which police officers were in the house when the incident happened. At the same time, special branch employees at the PM’s office will also be questioned.

Sources also said that the security staff at the PM’s Shehbaz house and office have been limited in how they can move around.

About the recording at the PM’s House, PM Shahbaz also called a meeting of the National Security Committee for Wednesday. The heads of the security agencies will be at the meeting.

Audio leaks

The latest and second leaked audio that went viral on social media is said to include PM Shehbaz, Rana Sanaullah, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, and others talking about PTI’s resignations.

On the audio, it is said that PML-N leaders can be heard talking about how they feel about PTI’s resignations. They also talk about whether or not London will let them accept the resignations.

Before that, another recording that had been leaked had gone viral on social media. It was said to have been made by PM Shehbaz and talked about how PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz had asked for her son-in-law to get a power plant from India.
