Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Monday, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) dropped the terrorism charges against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Imran Khan. He had been charged under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) for threatening a sessions court judge and top police officers at a public event in the federal capital.

But Imran Khan is still facing other charges in the case. IHC was listening to a case against Imran’s request that the terrorism charges against him be dropped.

During today’s hearing, the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) gave a report to the court that said the terrorism case against Imran was valid.

The court asked the JIT for their opinion and asked if the terrorism charges were valid, which the investigation team said they were.

The court was told by Special Prosecutor Raja Rizwan Abbasi that the terrorism section applies and that a challan has been made for the case.

But Salman Safdar, Imran’s lawyer, said that the terrorism charge didn’t hold in this case because it didn’t meet some basic requirements.

“A case for terrorism can only be made when an atmosphere of fear and terror has been created, not just the possibility of such an atmosphere being created,” he said, adding that a legitimate request, in that case, would have “come from those who were targeted in the statement.”

PTI leader, Imran Khan’s bail in the terrorism case against him was extended last week by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in the federal capital until September 20.

Imran khan has also not shown up at the Margalla police station in Islamabad, where the JIT is looking into the case filed against him under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA).

Police sources say that after Imran got the interim bail, the PTI leader had to help with the investigation himself.
