Web Desk (LTN NEWS): PM Shehbaz Sharif said that Maryam Nawaz’s acquittal in the Avenfield case is a huge rebuke of the political persecution the Sharif family went through.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said that PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz met with PM Shehbaz after the Islamabad High Court overturned the convictions in the Avenfield reference.
She wrote on Twitter that the PM had congratulated Maryam Nawaz and Captain Safdar on being found not guilty.
PM Shehbaz said, “Avenfield Reference highlights how a system of accountability was used to discredit & defame Mian Nawaz Sharif & Maryam Nawaz. Such a vendetta-driven process led to disruption of the country’s democratic evolution & caused political instability that took a terrible toll on politics.”
PM Shehbaz also thanked Allah for the fact that Maryam Nawaz and her husband, Captain Safdar, had their convictions overturned.
“I thank God that justice was done, just as justice was done for my daughter Maryam and my son-in-law Safdar,” said PM Shehbaz.
PM said that Maryam Nawaz and Captain Safdar were strong and brave in the hardest of times. PM wrote on Twitter that the court’s decision has completely broken down the facade of lies, smears, and attacks on people’s character.
He said, “We bow to Allah Al-Almighty, who has given us success.”
