Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Friday, PM Shehbaz Sharif met President Joe Biden at his reception for world leaders attending the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
PM’s Office put out a picture of the meeting.
Salman Sufi, who works for PM Shehbaz, said that during the meeting, the prime minister thanked the US government for helping with flood relief, giving help with Covid vaccines, and working together.
PM Shehbaz is in the United States to attend the UNGA meeting, where he will speak today to tell the world about the damage caused by catastrophic floods caused by climate change.
Pakistan has asked the rest of the world to help with relief efforts because the floods have hurt the country’s economy, which was already hurting from the balance of payments and dwindling foreign exchange reserves.

In his speech to the UNGA on Wednesday, Biden made an impassioned plea for the world to help Pakistan deal with the damage and stay involved with the country.
“Much of Pakistan is still under water and needs help,” said the US president. He also said that families have to decide which child to feed and wonder if they’ll live.
“This is what climate change has done to people. And it’s getting worse, not better.”
US president also called for action to deal with the climate change crisis and announced a $2.9 billion fund to help save lives and ensure food security around the world for just this year.
