Web Desk (LTN NEWS): On Monday, Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif voiced his delight at the improving state of relations with the United States and stressed the need for a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership between his country and the United States.
Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee had organized a congressional delegation (CODEL) to meet with him. Representatives Thomas Suozzi and Al Green were also members of the delegation.
Pakistan’s PM thanked the group for coming at a crucial time after the country was devastated by flash floods and emphasized that the government was actively involved in the rescue and relief efforts.
More than 1,300 people had died, he said, and farmland, animals, property, and essential infrastructure had all been severely damaged.
He emphasized that wealthy nations need to be more proactive about climate change, particularly in terms of providing predictable climate money for reducing the negative effects of climate change in developing nations.

PM expressed gratitude for the United States aid and said he hoped the visit by the Congressional delegation would raise awareness of the scope of damage caused by the megafloods in Pakistan and inspire more people to donate to the relief effort.
A congressional delegation of three people will be in Pakistan from September 4 to 6. The delegation went to Sindh to see firsthand the destruction and human suffering, and they met with important players to discuss long-term strategies for aiding Pakistan in its recovery.
While expressing her heartfelt condolences to all those affected by the floods, Representative Lee also praised the efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and voiced her hope that the Pakistani people will respond to this tragedy with strength and commitment.
