Web Desk (LTN NEWS): PM Shehbaz Sharif went to Faqirani Jat, Oplano, and other flood-affected areas of district Sajawal in Sindh province on Saturday to check on rescue and relief efforts and meet people who were affected by the floods.
Murad Ali Shah, who is the chief minister of Sindh, also went with the prime minister.
The chief secretary, the director general of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the deputy commissioner, and other important people will talk to the prime minister about the relief efforts, the situation with the floods, and how the damaged infrastructure in Sindh will be fixed.
PM Shehbaz told reporters that the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had warned of heavy rains, but no one thought that the rains would be so bad that they would break the record for the last 30 years in Sindh. He was in Sukkur district to check on the flood situation in Sindh.
“Sindh has never seen this much damage before. The crops have been destroyed and the animals have died,” he said, referring to the fact that the rain and floods had made it hard for millions of people to make a living.
He said that each of the families of the people who died would get Rs1 million as compensation. Shehbaz also said that he had given the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) a week to give Rs25,000 to every family in Sindh that had been affected by the rain and had to move because of it.
On Friday, heavy rain continued to fall on parts of the country that had already been hit by epic floods. This caused more deaths and damage in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Sindh provinces.
