Quetta (LTN NEWS): On Wednesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that rescue, relief, and recovery efforts in areas of Balochistan that were hit by flooding should be watched around the clock.
A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office said that the prime minister also told the government to report every 48 hours on how the money for flood victims was being spent.
Rains from the monsoon season have caused a lot of damage in Balochistan, killing hundreds of people and making thousands of others homeless.
In a meeting with officials in Islamabad on Wednesday, the prime minister told them to speed up the distribution of relief funds in the province, especially in Bolan, Quetta, Zhob, Dakki, Khuzdar, Kohlu, Kech, Mastung, Harnai, Qila Saifullah, and Sibbi.

He also told people to speed up relief and rebuilding work in Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Punjab, which had been hit by floods.
“PM Shehbaz said that the people who had been hurt by the floods were looking to the government to help them. He said that not having enough food, medicine, and places to stay would not be allowed “the PMO said in its statement.
Also, the prime minister made sure that flood-damaged areas were cleaned, sanitized, and fumigated properly to stop the spread of diseases like dengue.
“He also stressed the importance of giving flood victims clean water to drink in order to stop stomach diseases,” the PMO said.
A report from the relevant authorities said that food, medical camps, and places to stay had been set up in the areas of Balochistan that had been hit by the famine.
It also said that relief efforts had been stepped up with the help of the provincial government. It said that work was going on in other provinces with the help of the governments of those provinces.
This week, PM Shehbaz went to Balochistan and met with people who lived in areas where floods had caused a lot of damage. During his one-day trip, he gave each family of a flood victim a cheque for Rs1 million.
The premier also said that the provincial and national disaster management agencies would work together to survey the damage to crops, bridges, and roads across the province by using satellite images.
