Angelina Jolie urges people to learn about Pakistan after floods

Web Desk (LTN NEWS): Angelina Jolie visited Pakistan last week to help flood-affected families. She landed in Karachi and was escorted to Dadu, Sindh, to inspect flood damage. A week later, the actor uploaded photographs of the flood-damaged countryside on Instagram, writing that people should “learn and follow what’s occurring.”

Thursday, she released images from her visit and of herself examining the devastation from a helicopter. Jolie surveyed flood-stricken Johi by helicopter. Last week, she was in Pakistan with the International Rescue Committee and local organizations to observe the destruction caused by heavy flooding.

Over 6 million people need “urgent humanitarian aid,” according to the maleficent star.

She visited flood victims and Afghan refugees. Pakistan accommodates over a million Afghan refugees who can’t return safely. She said those I reached were still in shock after fleeing the Taliban and learning their new country was in crisis.

Jolie stressed that trauma and compound trauma are serious and that people need to “be conscious of the climate crisis.”

She asked people to push governments to realize that lack of fair trade, growing emissions, and inability to manage conflicts cause more death and suffering for millions of families worldwide.

In 2010 and 2005, the star visited Pakistan to meet earthquake victims.
