On Wednesday, the district and sessions court extended the interim bail of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and other PTI leaders until September 27. This was in a case about the alleged violation of Section 144 (which says that public gatherings of more than four people are illegal) in the capital on August 20, when the PTI held a protest against the arrest of its leader Shahbaz Gill.

On August 25, an Islamabad court gave Imran Khan Bail in the case until September 7 in exchange for an Rs5,000 surety bond.

At the next hearing, the court also asked for the police and the case file.

During the trial, Imran Khan’s lawyer, Babar Awan, asked the judge to let his client’s temporary bail last longer. He also asked the court to let his client not have to show up in person for the case.

Extra Sessions and Districts Judge Zafar Iqbal gave Imran Khan and a few other people temporary bail until September 27.

He also agreed with the request that Imran Khan, Asad Umar, Asad Qaiser, and Faisal Vawda don’t have to show up in person to the case.
